Dr. Sundar Kamath,

Dr. Sundar Kamath is Senior VP and CTO at Sanmina Corporation, an integrated design and manufacturing solutions provider with headquarters in Silicon Valley and operations in 20 countries, including a state of the art electronics manufacturing campus on a 100 acre site in Oragadam (Kancheepuram Dist), Tamil Nadu.
Prior to Sanmina, Dr. Kamath held technology development, project and product management positions at IBM Microelectronics, East Fishkill, NY, and MicroModule Systems Inc., Cupertino, CA, covering a range of semiconductor and microelectronics packaging technologies and products. He is a co-inventor on a dozen US patents, and has contributed to numerous technical publications and conference presentations at various industry forums including IEEE, ASME, SMTA, IMAPS, IPC, MRS, etc., and co-authored 2 chapters for a University level text on Microsystems Packaging. He has been an advisor to startups in Silicon Valley and Bangalore (India), and served on academic advisory boards. He is a past Board member of the International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (iNEMI) and charter member of TIE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) Silicon Valley.
He holds Bachelor’s, Master’s and Ph.D. degrees in engineering from the University of Madras (India), Cranfield Institute of Technology (England), and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign respectively.
In 2015, he led the Science for Society project to develop the first special-purpose vehicle that had a built-in medical clinic and internet connected classroom, all powered by solar panels and storage batteries, to improve access to these essential services for rural communities in India.
He has co-chaired the Ideal Village conference held at Stanford since 2016.
